Building materials characteristics

For a long time, the streets in Russian cities have been traditionally paved with asphalt. However, in the last few years paving slabs started to compete with asphalt as far as they have some significant advantages in comparison with traditional asphaltic surface. In particular, one of the advantages of paving slabs is easy laying that doesn’t need any expensive equipment.

Wall stone is the most popular material that is produced using semidry compaction.

In recent years the wall blocks have become more widely used in building industry.

Haydite concrete blocks are made of haydite (baked and foamed clay), cement and water. The blocks are characterized by excellent heat and sound insulating parameters, as well as high chemical resistance to corrosive environments. Coarse fraction filler allows to reduce the total weight of the constructed buildings.

Sand, cement and water are the main material used in manufacture of this type of blocks. Manufacturing stages are similar to those in the production of haydite concrete blocks. That is why these materials have common characteristics.

The term slag block is used to name building blocks and wall stones which are produced using a technique of compacting concrete mortar in the mould. As we can see from its name, one of the components of concrete is slag, i.e. combustion wastes of different material, for example, coal. However, in practice the content of concrete can include other materials which are available in the given region, for example, the screenings of the crushed stone, gravel, saw dust, perlite, haydite, sand and many other materials.

Curb stones are produced using semidry compaction technique. Meanwhile, any type feedstock can be used in the production of the building materials such as curb stone. Cement is used there as a binding component. Curb stones are essential in construction of pavements, playgrounds, car parkings and in land improvements.

In recent years hard and long-lasting paving stone blocks have gained a prestigious status. Paving stone blocks help to make an original and good-looking road surface. Paving stone blocks used for land improvement around cottages, business centers and buildings give them rather European look. That is an ideal building material to improve pathways in the village, garden, yard etc. Besides, the enterprise for production building materials can be started from scratch.

The product imitates thin walled brick and natural stone which appeared in the market long time ago. However, the Russians have got acquainted with this material quite recently, about 10 years ago. Mainly due to the fact that the production of building materials and facing stones in particular was successfully relocated to Russia. The importation of faux stones has become less profitable and domestic producers form the biggest part of the Russian market today. It follows that the vibration compaction technique is one of the most cost effective in modern building industry.

Thermal blocks are the sound and heat insulating blocks which are used for the rapid construction of family houses, plants and other buildings. Hollow polystyrene blocks filled with concrete are used for making the walls. Gaining strength, the concrete forms a monolithic structure of the building while the polystyrol acts as an insulant. Tiles, plaster or bricks are used for exterior cladding of the walls. This structure is 40% cheaper than traditional brick wall. Thus, the vibration compaction method is one of the most cost-effective ones in modern building industry.
